...with a New Year's Eve party...well, A New Year's Eve "Rehearsal" party...no one travels from New York City to New Jersey on New Year's Eve. So the Saturday night between Christmas and New Year's I had a party. On the tail of it's success I had another the following year...but...the next year New Year's actually fell on a Saturday! So I had a "Chinese New Year's Party" in February complete with take-out, two-story muslin dragons and a "short" show of lyp-synching by
Tony "Suzuki" Schwartz. And thus...the themed show party was born!
Then the "1920's Speakeasy Party" followed by "Pippin Goes Into The Woods" which had our first set and introducing the ever popular Pam as Little Red Riding Hood. Next was "Follies: From Seward to Ziegfeld" and the "Super Hero Party" introducing Balloon as a permanent member of the cast. And then...a Major upgrade!

"The 1939 Academy Awards Party"
was our first cohesively scripted show! Imagine that...a plot! Add to that recorded piano instrumentals and live singing! A big Plus!

At this time I took a forced break...my landlady went into the hospital, never to return, and I began the process of acquiring the house. Plumbing disasters! New roof! Hot water heater...there was none! Then it was time!

Moving from doing shows in my bedroom...yes, all the above was done in my bedroom...we went to the gutted ground floor livingroom seating approximately 20 people for "Fellini Presents: The Wonderful World Of Disney!" Introducing the next recurring member of our cast: Inginmar Bergman, Ingmar Bergman's Lesbian granddaughter. The "Upgrade" for the show? The addition of some fully orchestrated instrumentals and re-written lyrics composed by Howard Richman
Ground floor renovated...we move up to the present home of Parlour Productions...the Parlour Floor. "A Night At Minsky's Burlesque" christened the new space with seating for 30 and space for more scenery and lighting. "Seance At Clairvoyant Inn" took guests through the entire house as it transformed, culminating in a séance conjuring up  the likes of Sigmund Freud aka Inginmar Bergman, the many incarnations of Pam, Balloon as the Singing/Flying Nun, a Flight Attendant from Spirit Airlines and the now infamous singing and dancing Legumes from "Dream Beans". (Add a fog machine...what did I ever do without a fog machine?)

In March of 2005 Parlour Productions went  a step further. Not just a one shot party show (yes...all this for one performance!) but adding a benefit performance for JCLGO. Two performances! What a concept! Add some real theatrical lighting fixtures from Chauvet and Lynn at on the board...we out did ourselves! In "Dessert Follies" we sang and danced our way through the ingredients and recipes of all the desserts that would be served after the show. The dessert buffet was provided by Unique Feasts Catering. Paminatrix sang about whipping Chocolate Mousse, Inginmar made Swedish Butter Cookies, Sister Mary Tessmacher made Mandel Bread on Katholic Kosher Cooking, Lady Di-Amel sang of Puff Pastry, Balloon prepared Sticky Bunns...or tried to...and Miss Havesham soliloquized of Baked Alaska!

New Seats!

February and March brought you...
"Coffee, Tea or Me!"
... A Theatrical Romp which took guests as passengers on a flight to...well, you had to be there to find out! Ticket holders arrived for one of our four performances...YES FOUR!...and checked in at the gate. They were assigned seats and given boarding passes...lingered over wine and cheese in the first class lounge and then boarded our Embracer 707-223. Passengers enjoyed numerous musical numbers, meal service, in-flight videos and a snack. Organizations benefitting from ticket sales included JCLGO, JCconnections and Grace Seniors.

What was next???

It was "Numbers...Out of Context"

March 2008 saw us with two full weekends of [almost] sold out performances. Only six seats remained unsold out of 160 for our first show to run 5 performances over two weekends. It was "The Paradise" and production values were sky high! A new stage, luxurious new curtains, new lighting effects and costumes and a cast of seven.

Get ready...and get out your running shoes...2009's new production will keep you on your toes! Fire up the kiln..
it's "Hirsute Ceramist and the Phallus of Clay!"

And what? Another show in the same year?

He & I and Pam & Di!
Robert and Howard team up for a cabaret show to be performed at the Barrow Mansion in Jersey City. Between the two of us there were more than 22 costume changes in an hour and 10 minutes. Four of the changes were in the opening number! Costumes, props and lighting were hauled over the the Barrow Mansion and the space was magically transformed for one night only.
